چکیده

INTRODUCTION Combining polymers with an organic or inorganic filler to produce a polymer composite is common in the production and processing of modern plastics. Recently, filler sizes have been reduced to nanometer dimensions resulting in a new class of materials termed polymer nanocomposites (PNC). PNCs are commonly defined as the combination of a polymer matrix resin with inclusions that have at least one dimension in the nanometer size range [i]. PNCs exhibit significant enhancements in certain properties at a far lower concentration than their conventional micro or macro counterparts. Layered clay, expanded graphite, carbon nanofibers and carbon nanotubes are some of the common nanoparticles used in making PNCs.

Influence of Surface Modified MWCNTs on the Mechanical, Electrical and Thermal Properties of Polyimide Nanocomposites

Polyamic acid, the precursor of polyimide, was used for the preparation of polyimide/multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) nanocomposite films by solvent casting technique. In order to enhance the chemical compatibility between polyimide matrix and MWCNTs, the latter was surface modified by incorporating acidic and amide groups by chemical treatment with nitric acid and octadecylamine (C18H39N)...

Thermostability of Hybrid Thermoelectric Materials Consisting of Poly(Ni-ethenetetrathiolate), Polyimide and Carbon Nanotubes

Three-component organic/inorganic hybrid films were fabricated by drop-casting the mixed dispersion of nanodispersed-poly(nickel 1,1,2,2-ethenetetrathiolate) (nano-PETT), polyimide (PI) and super growth carbon nanotubes (SG-CNTs) in N-methylpyrrolidone (NMP) at the designed ratio on a substrate. The dried nano-PETT/PI/SG-CNT hybrid films were prepared by the stepwise cleaning of NMP and methano...

Enhanced thermal conductivity of polyimide films via a hybrid of micro- and nano-sized boron nitride.

A new thermally conductive polyimide composite film has been developed. It is based on a dispersion of different particle sizes of boron nitride (BN) in a polyimide (PI) precursor, polyamic acid (PAA). Subsequently, thermal imidization of PAA at 350 degrees C produced the corresponding polyimide composites. 3-Mercaptopropionic acid was used as the surfactant to modify the BN surface for the dis...
